Happy Halloween
Ok I'll be honest I don't really like Halloween that much. It's just not one of those holidays that I get into. It's really more of a stresser than a fun thing for me to figure out a costume and get it all together. But oh well.
We have 2 Halloween parties to go to. One tonight that is one of those Murder Mystery Dinner games where we all have characters to play and one of them is the person that did it. I have never done one before but I'm sure it will be a good time. Then tomorrow night we have our Bible class costume party. Again I'm sure we will have fun but I just don't really get in to the whole spirit of Halloween. Personally I think the costumes are too expensive and all the adult ones are HIGHLY inappropriate and to be honest the whole concept of Halloween is just kinda creepy to me. Oh well though...I know others like it and get into it so that's great. I will have fun at our parties but other than that Halloween is just not my thing. I will post pics of our costumes later :D.
I do however thing creative Jack-O-Lanterns are cool :D

Last night I had my last photography class. We talked about flash, lenses, filters, and a little more about composition. I am so glad I took this class and I feel like I learned a lot. Now I just need to get out there and practice all that I have learned.
On another note, I figured out what Collin and I are going to be for Halloween. I have bought the pieces of our costumes and now I just have to put them all together. I will definitely post pictures of our party on Saturday so you can see what we decided on :D.

Syndicated Television
Can I just say that I love syndicated television shows. Shows like Friends, Full House, Sabrina, and my new fav What I like About You. The classics that I grew up watching in elementary school and junior high. It's always sad when a show you really like ends or gets canceled but it's nice to be able to watch the re-runs on channels like ABC Family. Since I haven't been working I have had plenty of time to watch all of these shows. It's sad but I have a pretty regular tv schedule...at noon two episodes of Sabrina come on, at 1 two episodes of Full House, then at 2 two episodes of What I Like About You, then at 3 I watch Ellen, then at 4 I watch Oprah and at 5 two episodes of That 70's Show and sometime during those episodes Collin usually gets home from work. Lol...pretty lame I know but I have found that if I go out I tend to spend money so it's really just better if I hang out at the house. And for now it keeps me entertained enough to not be totally bored with my life. What are your favorite syndicated shows??

Photography 303
Last night was a good night in my photography class. I learned a lot. We talked about metering, exposure compensation and composition.
I think the biggest thing I learned is the one-third rule. Apparently, putting your main subject in the center of the picture is frowned upon in the photography world. Of course no rule stand across the board but for the most part you should try to stay away from it. Once we started talking about it and looking at examples of good photos it was clear. It's one of those things that you just don't really notice until someone points it out. The basic gist of this one-third rule is to divide your picture into a 3X3 grid and then put your subject in one of the thirds either going horizontal or vertical depending on your particular picture. It's a pretty simple thing to do if you just know about it. So, I am glad we talked about that last night.
We only have one more class to go and I think next week we are talking about filters, flashes, other equipment and then maybe composition a little more. So I will be looking forward to that.

Brrr...I think fall is here
The weather was beautiful this past weekend. It was sunny and in the 70's but a cool front has moved in and made it pretty chilly outside. I'm actually pretty excited about the fall weather. I mean summer is definitely my favorite season but fall comes in a close second. I love the colors and being able to pull out my long-sleeved shirts. Tomorrow the high temp is 41 degrees :D. We still haven't had our first snow but people keep saying it's right around the corner. You can be sure that I will be posting about that when it happens. Tonight for dinner I'm making chili in honor of the cool weather. I love having a hot bowl of chili on a cold night :D. Yummy!!
On a side note...tonight is my 3rd photography class. I'll let you know what I learn tomorrow :D.

All things Me...
I've seen these on a few other blogs and think they are so cool. You can just put in your blog address and it will pick up words you use a lot and make a collage out of them or you can just list words you want on there. You should check it out...www.wordle.net it's pretty cool.
Great News...
I just put gas in my car for $2.89 a gallon. I never thought the day would come that I was excited about $2.89...but here it is. For the first time in months my total bill was less than $50.00. I just hope the price of gas keeps going down!!
Another great thing about living up here that goes along with gas is the fact that my car gets much better milage up here. I mean I've heard before that in hot places your gas evaporates and I've never really known if it was true and I still don't but that could explain why in Texas I was getting like 11-12 miles per gallon and here I am getting like 15 mpg's. Whatever it is that is causing this doesn't really matter to me as long as it is happening!! So yay for lower gas prices and better gas milage. :D

Photog 202
Last night's class was much better than the first one. We learned about depth of field and the relationship between aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. I feel like I really learned some important concepts!! I am looking forward to the other two classes and am excited to see what others things I will learn.

Halloween Costumes
So, Collin and I have a halloween party with our Bible Class on November 1. I have been searching online for ideas of what we should dress us as but haven't found anything that I really like. I mean there is some funny stuff out there but most of it is highly inappropriate. I would love to hear some of your ideas...maybe something you have done in the past. We don't want to spend a huge amount of money on our costumes since we will only be wearing them once. So lets hear your ideas!! :D

B-E-A-UTIFUL Fall Colors
So, one of the things I love about living here is the fact that we are so close to so many cool places. Today we went to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park to see the aspen trees changing and the elk. It was so much fun. It took us a little less than 2 hours to get there and was so worth the drive. The aspen trees were so beautiful!! They turn a golden yellow color that almost looks like it is glowing...it is amazing. We also saw several herds of elk and were able to get super close to them. Here are several pictures of our day in the mountains...
