3 Months

My buddy is 3 months old today!! He is so much fun!! He is starting to interact with us so much more. He is making all kinds of cute baby noises as well as smiling like crazy. He loves looking at his mobile and watching the fan go around. He is on a 3 hour eating schedule and is sleeping through the night like a champ!! He is still not a fabulous napper (is that a word??) but hopefully he will get better at that. We went to the doctor yesterday to make sure he wasn't sick (he had had a stuffy nose for about a week) but he was fine. In doing that thought we got to see how much he weighs now...a whopping 13 lbs. 7 oz. He is just growing so fast!! Here are a few pics I snapped of him at 3 months old. I know I'm partial but I'm pretty sure he is the cutest little guy I have ever seen ;D.

I've found my tongue!!

Look how big I'm getting!!

My new favorite thing is sucking on my bottom lip.

I want these :D

I'm sure most of you are familiar with Tom's shoes. However, if you aren't they are a shoe company started by a guy named Blake Mycoskie. The project is really pretty simple...for every pair of shoes that are bought a pair is donated to a child in need. I think the idea is fabulous!! Here is a blip from their website www.tomsshoes.com telling about this awesome work...

OUR STORY

In 2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.

Since our beginning, TOMS has given over 140,000* pairs of shoes to children in need through the One for One model. Because of your support, TOMS plans to give over 300,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world in 2009.

Our ongoing community events and Shoe Drop Tours allow TOMS supporters and enthusiasts to be part of our One for One movement. Join us.

WHY SHOES?

Most children in developing countries grow up barefoot. Whether at play, doing chores or just getting around, these children are at risk.

Walking is often the primary mode of transportation in developing countries. Children can walk for miles to get food, water, shelter and medical help. Wearing shoes literally enables them to walk distances that aren't possible barefoot.

Wearing shoes prevents feet from getting cuts and sores on unsafe roads and from contaminated soil. Not only are these injuries painful, they also are dangerous when wounds become infected. The leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted parasites which penetrate the skin through open sores. Wearing shoes can prevent this and the risk of amputation.

Many times children can't attend school barefoot because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don't have shoes, they don't go to school. If they don't receive an education, they don't have the opportunity to realize their potential.

There is one simple solution...SHOES.

Of the planet's six billion people, four billion live in conditions inconceivable to many. Lets take a step towards a better tomorrow.

I don't own any of these shoes yet but I want to get some. I am also planning on giving some as Christmas gifts this year because I like giving gifts that benefit a good cause. :D

TEXAS

Well, Maddox has officially made his first trip to Texas. You were probably wondering why I haven't blogged in forever and that is why. We had a great trip but are glad to be back home and are looking forward to getting back in to some sort of routine!!! We really enjoyed getting to spend time with our families and are happy that everyone has gotten to meet him now!! Maddox was such a trooper. We just took him all over the place. We spent a day shopping, we took him to ACU Lectureship and went to the State Fair of Texas. He did great on both plane rides and only cried once which we were VERY thankful for. We have lots of pictures from our time there so I will pick some of the best to share with you!!

Road Rage

In my opinion road rage is never really ok but it is especially not ok if it is unwarranted. The reason I bring this up is because in the last few weeks I have been given the finger twice while driving around and both times I didn't do anything wrong to the person doing it to me.

The first time I was on my way to lunch at the Olive Garden after church a couple of Sunday's ago and was following my friend Danielle. We were on a road that merges to one lane for a little while and in front of her was a person going like 10 miles under the speed limit. She wasn't following too close but I was tailing her just to be funny. Once the road went back to two lanes the "slow" person got over so Danielle and I proceeded to pass them and as we did he flicked both of us off. I still don't know why he felt like he needed to give me the finger when I was 2 cars behind him but whatever.

The second time was last night. I was going over to Jennifer's house to do day two of our 30 day shred and was turning right at a green light. There was a whole row of cars turning left from the other side of the street and I guess the first car thought they had a green arrow and not just a green light so they turned left. Well I guess the cars behind them just followed and also didn't realized it wasn't a green arrow and that I had the right away. So when I turned at the same time as someone else they got mad. I looked in my mirror and sure enough they were giving me the finger. I was like really?!?!? You run a light and get mad at me...what is up with that. Once again...whatever!!!

So, let this be a friendly reminder to you that before you decide to get mad at someone when you are driving make sure you aren't actually the one in the wrong :D.

30 Day Shred

Yesterday my friend Jennifer and I started the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred workout video. We both want to drop some pounds and feel like this is a cheap and easy way to do it since we can do it at home. All it is is a 20 minute workout that you do every day. It consists of a 2 minute warmup, then 3 sets of 2 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs and then a 2 minute cool down. Sounds easy enough right?!?! WRONG!! It was so hard. I mean I know I am out of shape but dang I was huffin and puffin!! Hopefully we can stick with it though and get to looking good soon!! :D I'll let ya know how that goes ;)

American Idol

It has just been announced that Ellen DeGeneres is going to be the new judge on the next season of American Idol. I am SOOO excited. I LOVE her. I think she is absolutely hilarious!!! I think she will be so much better than Paula and add an entirely new aspect to the show. I can't wait until January now for the new season to start!!

How do you feel about the addition of Ellen to the panel of judges on AI???

Hook 'Em

It is once again that time of year. Today is the first Saturday of college football. While I am not as excited as Collin is about this it is still a fun time. Even though we didn't go to The University of Texas we are big Longhorn fans. We got engaged at the State Fair on the big ferris wheel after the Texas vs. OU game (we got smoked but had fun none the less). So like all football fans we start this season with high hopes for our team and look forward to cheering them on (hopefully all the way to the National Championship!) Even Maddox is ready to cheer on his favorite team...

Scrapbooking...

Like many mom's I started a scrapbook for my sweet boy before he got here and did really well keeping up with it but I have to admit that since he was born I have greatly neglected it. But today I decided to get back on the scrapbooking wagon. I went and got tons of pictures printed and got lots of cute paper and stickers. I'm ready to get caught up on his book. Now I just need my little dude to start taking naps for a substantial amount of time so that I can have time to work on it :D.

I am...

OUT OF SHAPE!!!!!!

Last night Collin and I took Maddox on a walk. We walked about a mile and a half and I was huffin and puffin when we got home. It was quite pitiful!! I really need to get motivated and back into the swing of working out or at least doing something somewhat active. I have been a big couch potato since Maddox was born.

My friend Jennifer (aka JCox) and I have been talking about getting the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred it video and doing it together so we will see if that actually happens. I really wish it wasn't $4.00 an hour for childcare at the rec center cuz then I would just drop Maddox off for an hour and go work out there...but that would add up really quicklly!! Oh well....I really just need to get up off the couch and get on the Wii fit which is right here in my living room!!

Wish me luck...lol. Because the motivation is just not there!!
