11 months

My baby is 11 months old today. Only one short month away from his first birthday. It just blows my mind that we have almost had him here with us for an entire year!! He brings more joy (and frustration...he is refusing to go to bed as I write this post) to our family than I ever thought possible. He is such a charmer and will smile at anyone who will smile back at him.

Here is what he is up to these days:

*He weighs about 24 lbs.
*He wears size 12-18 month clothes.
*He was taking 2 naps a day before he got sick last week but since then he has gotten off his schedule and been fighting them big time!!
*He typically goes to bed around 7:30 pm but with it staying light out until almost 9 that has become a bit more challenging!!
*He has 8 teeth. 4 on top and 4 on bottom and the dr. said his molars were coming in as well.
*He is a pro at crawling.
*He will pull up to standing on the furniture but doesn't walk around holding on yet.
*He is getting better at entertaining himself with toys for longer periods of time.
*He drinks 2-3 8 oz. bottles a day.
*His favorite food right now is Mac and Cheese.
*He gives high 5's and thinks its hilarious.
*He loves being outside.
*He loves bath time.
*He loves when you sing this song we made up about his name to the tune of "Are you Sleeping."
*He has started getting upset when we leave him with people he isn't familiar with (ie. sitters and bible class) which is kind of a bummer. Hopefully, he gets over that quickly.
*He has the most beautiful blue eyes that will just melt your heart!!

He is just full of personality and a joy to be around (most of the time). I am excited to celebrate his first birthday next month. I know he won't remember it but we will have lots of pictures to document the occasion. Happy 11 months baby boy!!

First Haircut

My baby boy got his first haircut today!! I can't believe my little guy is old enough nor has enough hair for a haircut already but he was starting to get pretty shaggy around his ears and in the back. I am planning on taking some pictures of him soon for his b-day party and wanted his hair looking nice for them. He did pretty well and only cried a little. He got to sit in a cute little fire truck and got a dumdum sucker after he was finished. We paid $2.00 extra for the first cut package and got a little certificate with his picture on it and a little baggie with a lock of hair in it. I actually still have a lock of hair from my first haircut still in my baby book so I wanted his for his scrapbook!! He looks so cute with his new clean cut!! Here are a few pictures from this sweet event.

Partay!!

I can't believe it but in one month my sweet baby boy well be a year old!! It's amazing how you can never understand the concept of "time flying by" until you are actually living it!!

Of course we couldn't let our little buddy turn one without having a little party so I have already begun planning!! I went to Hobby Lobby today and bought some supplies to make some crafty decorations...I just hope they turn out as cute as they look in my head :D. They theme for his party is going to be Sock Monkey!! I was able to find Paul Frank plates, napkins and party favor bags at Target so I already have those and I ordered him an adorable personalized shirt on etsy.com as well. Here is a little sneak peek of what's to come. But be certain that there will be lots of pictures from the big day in about a month!!

Merry Christmas to me!!

Every year for Christmas, Collin's dad gets me and my sister-in-law, Lara, a new bottle of perfume. It is a tradition that his dad started I believe with his daughter-in-laws. It's a lot of fun and I look forward to getting new perfume every year. This year we did something a little different. The store Sephora put out a perfume sampler that included small samples of 12 different perfumes.

Then it also came with a coupon that allowed you to return to the store and get a full sized bottle of any one of the 12 that you wanted!! So fun right!?!? So I has taken me this long to go through all of the different choices and decide which one I wanted. I got it down to my 4 favorites. It was between the Aquolina Pink Sugar, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, Harajuku Lovers G, and Versace Bright Crystal. I ended up getting the Versace.

It was really a great deal because the bottle of perfume alone was $50.00 that you got for free and you got the keep all of the samples too!! I am a perfume girl and love getting and trying new ones. So, it was such a fun gift for me and I am so excited to get to use my new perfume. And its like a little bit of Christmas fun 6 months after the fact :D.

Stomach Virus

Just got home from the pediatrician's office and my little man has a stomach virus. I decided to take him in because he had been throwing up all morning (yuck!!) We saw the PA, Chris, and she said they had been seeing a lot of it lately so to just put him on a liquid diet and make sure he stays hydrated!! She checked his ears because he had been pulling at them a lot but said they look fine but noticed that his molars were starting to come in so that was probably why he was messing with his ears. And since we were there we got to find out how much he officially weighs and he is at 24 lbs now. I honestly thought he was more but I guess not.

He seems to be feeling ok now and is smiling and playing so hopefully he gets better soon!!

Born to be a Wildcat - Please Vote!!!

Those of you who graduated from ACU are familiar with the ACU Today magazine and those of you who didn't it is just a magazine that is sent out to alumni to update them on what is going on around campus. It has a section with updates on alumni that includes births. When any alum has a baby they send a onsie that says "Born to be a Wildcat" on it and tell you to take a picture of your kiddo and send it in to be published in the next ACU Today. They sent us a 12 month size onsie so it finally fits and I finally got around to taking Maddox's picture in it. So I need your help!! I have 6 different pictures that I like so I need you to vote on the one you think is the best that I should send in to be published!! I will number each picture and you can just leave a comment with which on is your favorite!! Thanks so much for you help!!

Sunny California

Last week we hopped on a jet plane and headed out to the west coast for the Pepperdine Lectures and a little vacation!! We had a blast. I will admit that the lectureship part of the trip is never my favorite and usually involves me getting mad but we made it through those 4 days and then had a blast being tourists with our besties, Daniel, Jennifer, Laney and Kolby!!! The lectures ended on Friday night so on Saturday morning we packed up our stuff and moved to a hotel right by LAX airport and began our adventures. We started out by heading to the Santa Monica Pier. It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed walking down the pier and looking at the fishermen. The kids loved the little amusement park. Laney and Kolby both won a stuffed animal at one of the games and then both got to jump on one of those trampolines that you are harnessed to and can go really high. We also enjoyed a yummy mexican food lunch at the end of the pier!! And after lunch we walked down to the beach so the kids could feel the water...they said it was FREEZING!!

After Santa Monica we went to Hollywood Blvd. to see the Walk of Fame and the hand/feet prints at the Chinese Theater. There are always a lot of sketchy people out on Hollywood Blvd. but we had a fun time none the less.

We then headed to Rodeo Dr. to check out all of the fancy shops. We just drove down it because there isn't really much parking over there. We were hoping to see someone famous but no such luck. The kids were really begging to go swimming at the hotel so after Rodeo Dr. we headed back and all went swimming. Maddox LOVED it!! He loves bath time so I wasn't the least bit surprised. Since we were already back at the hotel we took advantage and got Maddox to bed early for the first time the entire trip (poor guy). On Sunday we got up and went to church at Mosaic in Beverly Hills. We have gone to this church the 2 other times we have been to Cali and just love it. The other times we went to their downtown LA campus which is a completely different atmosphere but we still enjoyed the Beverly Hills Campus. After church we headed to Dodger Stadium to watch them take on our own Colorado Rockies. We all had Dodger Dogs and enjoyed our time. Unfortunately, the Rockies lost. After the game we headed to Anaheim to check out Downtown Disney. It just a bunch of shops and restaurants but is free to go to. It was fun and we got the kids souvenirs there. After that we grabbed a quick dinner and headed back to the hotel to get rested for Monday's full day at Disneyland.

On Monday (our last day) we headed back to Anaheim for Disneyland. It was all of our first time except Collin. I have been to Disney World 3 times before but never Disneyland. It was a lot of fun. Although, I will say that I was very disappointed with the size of the castle. It is MUCH smaller than the one at Disney World. We spent the entire day there riding rides and meeting characters. It was a blast and everyone was wiped out by the time we left!! There were even a bunch of rides that Maddox could ride so I think even he had a good time!!

We had such a great time being in Cali with the Cox's. We were all sad to come home to the yucky, cold, snowy weather in Colorado. Hopefully, we can all go on vacation again sometime!
