Playin' in the snow!!!

This morning Collin and I got up and put on all of our ski clothes and went out to play in the snow. This is our second snow since we have been here but the first time we actually got out in it so we had fun. I also put Toby's sweater on and took him out too. Here is a picture of me and little Tobs and a picture of my attempt at a snow angel. YAY for snow!!!

Birthday, Black Friday and Snow!!!

So as many of you know, today is my 25th birthday. Thanks so much to everyone who sent me facebook messages and text messages!! I had a great day with Collin and his parents, then dinner at my fav P.F. Changs and then a little Guitar Hero with Nat and Whit!! Oh ya and of course a little shopping...which brings me to my second point.

Today is also Black Friday...one of if not the biggest shopping days of the year. I love Black Friday. Every year my mom, sisters, grandma and I all get up bright and early and head out to the shops to do some damage and always have a blast. This year was a little different since Collin and I stayed in Colorado for Thanksgiving. But it was still fun none the less. I got up at 5:30 am and headed to Target with my mother-in-law, Diane, and we had a blast. It was her first time to experience Black Friday so it was fun for me to be able to introduce her to this fun tradition. I got several DVD's at Target all for between $4.00 and $6.00 which is a great deal. I also got my very own turkey roaster for $29.00 for the next time I am in charge of Thanksgiving dinner. I also purchased new bedding for Collin and my bedroom...which I love. I have had my eye on this set since we moved here to Colorado and finally saw that it was on sale and had to get it. Here is a picture of our new and improved bedroom. Anyone who knows me at all knows that I am obsessed with blue and brown so it should be no surprise that those are the colors I chose...

And finally the snow. I have always wanted it to snow on my birthday and with it being in November it's definitely always been possible but it has never happened until now. I didn't think I was going to get my white birthday this year either because up until dinner we hadn't had any and there wasn't any at all in the forecast. But low and behold we come out of Nat and Whits house and there it is...huge flakes coming down like crazy covering the cars and streets. It was so pretty. And it is still coming down like rain comes down in Texas...I love it!! Since it's already dark it was hard to get any pics of it but I gave it a shot and this is what I came up with...

Here is me with the snow...it was dark outside so its kinda hard to see...but I have on my cute new sweater that I got for my birthday from Collin's parents!!

So all in all it was a great day. I mean what else could a girl ask for...it's my birthday, Black Friday, and it's snowing!!

Happy Turkey Day

Collin and I have so much to be thankful for this year...our new church family, being able to live in the beautiful place we do, and our precious baby that is on the way...to mention a few. This was my first Thanksgiving to be away from my family so it was a little bittersweet. Usually my mom cooks an elaborate meal that we all enjoy together but since we are hundreds of miles apart this year that wasn't possible. So Diane and I tackled our first Thanksgiving meal together and it turned out really great!! We had a lot of fun cooking together and found out that it is not as hard as we thought!! Here are a few pictures of our feast...

Collin carving the turkey :D You did a lovely job Col!!
Diane and Me with all of our yummy food...obviously we didn't dress up for our Thanksgiving lunch :D

And tomorrow is a good day...one because it is Black Friday which is like one of my favorite days of the year (except this year for like the first time ever I won't be able to go shopping with my mom, sisters, and nana...TEAR) but I am planning on hitting up the Target store bright and early in the morning and two it's my birthday...I will be a quarter of a century old...the big 25 :D

Thanksgiving dinner at His Hands

I have talked about the His Hands ministry on here before but in case you missed it...His Hands is a food and clothing bank ministry run by an amazing couple at our church. And last night they hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for all of the people they help each week. It was so awesome because the people came in and were seated at tables and then were served their meal by church members young and old. I think they ended up serving nearly 100 people. What a blessing to be able to be Jesus to those in need. I mean isn't that what this week is all about. Being thankful for the blessings we have and then in return blessing others!! Here are some pictures I took of the evening...

And then there were 3...

A few of you have already heard the news but now the secret is officially out!! Collin and I are so excited to tell everyone that we are expecting!! We have known for about 5 weeks now and have been dying to tell people. And now we can!! We feel so blessed that God has chosen to give us this wonderful gift.

By my calculations I am nearly 9 weeks along but will know more certainly next week when we have our first ultrasound. This is something we have been praying about for a long time and are just so excited that the time is finally here. I am so thankful for the love and support we have already received from those know and look forward to this wonderful journey.

I will for sure keep you all updated!! Please be praying that everything goes well at our doctors appointment on Wednesday, December 3rd!!!

I can't believe I'm actually doing this...

As a Texas Longhorn fan it is almost a sin to cheer for the Oklahoma Sooners. But tonight many of us will be doing just that. In order for our beloved Longhorns to have a chance at the National Championship game we need Texas Tech to lose tonight to OU. Therefore, we will be singing along to that horrid Boomer Sooner song in hopes that they pull out a victory both tonight and next Saturday over the Oklahoma State Cowboys thus causing a 3 way tie in the Big 12 South. Then we will hope that with our difficulty of schedule the BCS puts the Longhorns at #2, which would put Texas in the National Championship game. Several things have to go our way for that to happen...so here's to hopin' and Go OU!

Bummer

So, remember the fun thing that I was telling you we were going to do on Friday that was a surprise?? Well, unfortunately for certain reasons we have had to postpone it until after Thanksgiving. Kinda sad but that's ok. It's still going to be a surprise so you will have to wait with us to find out what it is. I'm sure with it being Thanksgiving the time will fly by...at least that is what I am hoping for. :D

We are still super excited about Collin's parents coming to visit tomorrow. So that makes the disappointment of the other not near as bad.

Since this is my first Thanksgiving away from my family I am having to figure out what to do for Thanksgiving dinner. It's a pretty daunting task because usually my mom does a huge spread that is amazing. So if you have any tips I would love to hear them. :D

Under the Weather

The weather here has been amazing!! It snowed last Friday and now it's sunny and in 70's. The best of both worlds if you ask me. Unfortunately, for me though I have a cold so I haven't been able to enjoy it. And Collin has caught it too so we have just been a ball of joy here at the Packer household. We are hoping that we will both get better before Friday when all the fun begins. Say a little prayer for us to get well!! Thanks friends!!
